    Warrior Soul is an American hard rock band formed by lead singer and producer Kory Clarke. Clarke started the band on a bet from a promoter at New York City's Pyramid Club, after a solo performance art show called "Kory Clarke/Warrior Soul". Clarke was determined he would have the best band in the city within six months. Nine months later he signed to Geffen Records, with a multi album deal.

    Kory Clarke originally started in the music scene as a drummer for a number of bands, including Detroit punks L-Seven (not to be confused with the all female Los Angeles band, L7) and Pennsylvania Southern rockers Raging Slab. After realizing his calling was as a singer and front man, Kory Clarke promoted himself to stage front and founded Warrior Soul.

    The band began to play in New York City in 1987, and soon came to the attention of Geffen,

    Michael\'s first solo recording was \"Nights Are So Long\" (released only in Scandinavia and Japan in 1987). Michael had moved to New York at the end of 1985 after sharing a flat in London with Stiv Bators (lead singer of Dead Boys and The Lords Of The New Church) for about a year following Razzle\'s passing and the break up of Hanoi Rocks. Stiv and Michael had worked tillsammans on some stuff & done a few demo tracks in London and also did backing vocals together on Little Steven\'s \"Sun City - Artists United Against Apartheid\" record. They were flown over to New York for the \"Sun City\" film shoot to participate along with names like Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Bono, Joey Ramone, Jimmy Cliff, RUN DMC, Peter Wolf, Nona Hendryx & others. After the shoot Michael and Stiv stuck around in New York for a while and Michael then decided to move to Manhattan.

    Kory honed his skills as one of Detroit’s best drummers with the guidance of Adam Smith, (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), whom he studied under for 6 years and he taught him much. Growing up in the 1970’s, Detroit, which was the most influential rock n roll audience in the world at that time, he devoured rock and lived it.

    Coming of age in the 1980’s, he created the Detroit band “The Trial” ‘83-84’ with guitarist Kevin Quinn. He co-produce a record in LA with legendary producer and weirdo Kim Fowley.

    Kory Clarke then moved to New York and started doing solo spoken word shows called Kory Clarke/Warrior Soul and on a bet turned the performance piece into a band and managed to get a major record deal from Geffen records after a major bidding war.
