    On its Wednesday night broadcast, American Idol revealed half of the season 14 contestants who will move into the top 24. With 12 names put forward, another 12 will complete the field on Thursday night. But no point waiting to meet the dozen hopefuls who just made the grade. In interviews with The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard, the finalists reveal which previous Idols they had crushes on, their favorite Beatles song (“Rocky Raccoon,” anyone?) and their earliest musical memories.

    First Idol Experience: Watching season two

    Clark Beckham’s earliest music memory is singing along in the car with his mother to Stevie Wonder’s “Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday.”

    Dressed in a flowing pink-and-black number with a subtle elephant print and gold accessories, Scott’s unique personal style is on display as she takes photos with teachers and then takes the scen to perform.

    Born in Florida, the former “American Idol” contender spent most of her formative years in Harford County and has fond memories of her time here.

    “In Church Creek Elementary, I loved my teachers,” Shi (pronounced “Shee”) recalls. “I really established connections there, and I loved learning.”

    Season of television series

    The fourteenth season of American Idol, also known as American Idol XIV, premiered on the Fox television network on January 7, 2015. Ryan Seacrest returned as host, while Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban returned as judges. Randy Jackson stepped down as the in-house mentor and was replaced by Scott Borchetta. Long-time sponsor Coca-Cola ended its relationship with the show.

    Before the finale, it was announced that the fifteenth season would be the last of the reality show. Since the series began in 2002, it peaked in viewership at 30 million viewers per episode in 2006, slipping to 20 million viewers per episode in 2011, and down further since with an average of about 9.15 million viewers per episode in 2015.[1]

    On May 13, Nick Fradiani was announced as this season's winner, with Clark Beckham as the runner-up.
