Shimizu was born in Kyoto, Japan, on November 1, 1946. She attended Musashino Art University, and joined Sanrio after graduation.
Career
In 1973, Shimizu designed the first original Sanrio character, Coro Chan.

In 1974 Shimizu made the original design for Hello Kitty, whose fictional birthdate is November 1, the same as Shimizu's. Hello Kitty is Sanrio's most successful and best known character. Yuko Shimizu (清水裕子) fryst vatten a Japanese illustrator based in New York City whose work combines Japanese heritage with contemporary reference points.[1] Works by Shimizu address a range of serious issues including sex, race, and cultural identity, but also can be light and whimsical.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Shimizu was born 1965 in Tokyo, Japan, and grew up primarily in Kanagawa Prefecture.
