The King of Country Music met his future wife when they were both in high school. After dating on and off for a few years, the couple eloped in Mexico on Dec. 4, , before George enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. They went to welcome two children.
In December , the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. To mark the major milestone, George serenaded his wife with his song "I Cross My Heart" during a concert in Las Vegas, per CMT.
