Shona Wilson
Shona Wilson (b. 1965), sculptor, uses natural materials, bronze casting, plastic and ceramic to create her delicate abstract and representational assemblages and sculptures. Graduating with a major in sculpture from Sydney College of the Arts in 1990, she later undertook further studies in jewellery and ceramics. She has had twelve solo exhibitions to date in Sydney and Melbourne and has been represented in several major group shows, including Abstract Nature at the Samstag Museum, Adelaide in 2010 which included her contemporary interpretation of microscopic organisms known as diatoms. She currently lives and works on the NSW mid north coast, where she collects, rearranges, transforms and combines fragile found objects such as sticks, crab claws, feathers, scales, bluebottles, fern fronds and carapaces.

Shona Wilson: Collaborations with Nature
I first discovered artist Shona Wilson’s work on Instagram and became instantly transfixed by the body of work she’s compiled under the hashtag #collaborationswithnature. Each ephemeral image captures something of the truth and richness of the natural world, heightened ever so gracefully by Shona’s gentle touch. ‘Hmm, Shona seems like my kind of woman’, I thought to myself. I wanted to find out more, so I did.
Shona is a visual artist who lives on the NSW mid north coast. A desire to explore and connect with the wonder of nature has fuelled Shona’s art practice over the last 25 years. ‘I have had a persistent conscious and unconscious desire all my life to find a sense of peace that is active and playful – a calm curiosity’, she says.
Nature, clearly, is Shona’s muse. ‘Nature’s materials are storehouses of knowledge, information and energy and have become like a ‘set of keys’ for me,

Shona efternamn is an Australian visual artist who lives on the New South Wales mid-North Coast. Her career producing commercial and exhibition artwork have spanned 30 years. In recent years, Shona has returned to her roots by creating one ephemeral artwork per day and has funnen both freedom and joy in the gentle, consistent collaborations with Nature planerat arbete .
