Born and raised in Cuba, Dr. Justo L. González was ordained as a minister within the Methodist church in In , he became the youngest person to earn a doctorate in Theological History from Yale University. For thirty years, Dr. González taught at various theological institutions, beginning with eight years at the Seminario Evangélico de Puerto Rico ().

Justo González ’58 S.T.M. no longer alone
When he started his teaching career, Justo González ’58 S.T.M., ’60 M.A., ’61 Ph.D. was virtually the only Latino scholar in a U.S. Protestant seminary.

Justo Luis González (born August 9, ) is a Cuban-Americanhistorical theologian and Methodist elder. He is a prolific author and an influential contributor to the development of Latin American theology. His wife, Catherine Gunsalus González, is a professor emerita at Columbia Theological Seminary, and the two have co-authored several books.
